What is a Mnemonic ?

A mnemonic is a memory aide that is a useful tool to help children (and adults) remember information they need to know.

Mnemonics help to translate pieces of information from short-term memory to long-term memory. They are a great tool for dyslexic students and for students who struggle with spelling.

Examples of mnemonics are:

*Acronyms
*Acrostics
*Music (The ABC Song)
*Chunking (A phone # 312-334-4343)
*Illustrations
*Rhyme
*Visualization

Exposing students to already existing mnemonics or having them create one that is meaningful to themselves can be super effective! Scroll below to see my favorite ones!
